How to Sign Up for Bluesky Without Your Real Email
You can create a Bluesky account without giving a website your primary inbox, but use an address that you can keep. Bluesky no longer requires an invite code: its official announcement says anyone can join, and the current bsky.app signup flow starts by asking for an email address, password, and birth date. A persistent Inboxto address can keep signup mail, alerts, and recovery mail separate from your everyday inbox. It cannot guarantee that Bluesky will accept every email domain or bypass Bluesky's anti-abuse controls.
What has changed about Bluesky signup?
The phrase "Bluesky invite signup" is now outdated. Bluesky opened general registration on February 6, 2024 and explicitly said that no invite code was required. Today, choosing Create account at bsky.app opens a three-step flow. In our editorial check on September 11, 2026, step one asked for:
- an email address;
- a password; and
- a birth date.
That observation matters because an email address is part of the normal signup path, while an invite code is not. Do not buy, trade, or search for old invite codes. Start from the official app instead.
The AT Protocol's public account API also documents separate email-confirmation and password-reset operations. Email is therefore more than a signup field: it can be part of proving control of an account and recovering access later. Treat the address as a durable account contact, not a throwaway line item.
Why a persistent private inbox fits this job
A ten-minute inbox is a poor fit for a social account you may want next month. It might receive the first message, then disappear before a confirmation, login alert, or reset request arrives. Your public handle can be long-lived; the email behind it should be recoverable too.

How to sign up with an Inboxto address
- Create a persistent address. Open Inboxto and create an address you are willing to keep for this account. Do not use an address you plan to delete after five minutes.
- Open the official signup page. Go directly to
https://bsky.app, select Create account, and use the Bluesky Social service unless you intentionally understand another provider. - Enter the address and complete the account details. Provide the Inboxto address, a unique password, and your real birth date where the service asks for it. Follow Bluesky's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
- Read signup and confirmation mail in Inboxto. Refresh the inbox and follow the exact confirmation instructions Bluesky sends. The public protocol documentation describes confirmation as a token sent by email; do not share that token with anyone.
- Star important account mail. Star the confirmation message and any meaningful security or moderation notice you need to retain. On the free plan, choose carefully because permanent Stars are limited to five.
This workflow is about email separation, not hiding behavior from Bluesky. Keep one account per the platform's rules, use an address you control, and do not rotate addresses to force a blocked registration through.
A note about custom domains and custom handles
Bluesky's custom handle and your signup email are separate systems. Bluesky's official custom-domain tutorial explains that a handle can be verified through DNS or a web-hosted file. That is a public identity choice, such as you.example.com; it does not change where account mail is delivered.
Inboxto Premium custom domains solve a different problem: receiving mail at an address on a domain you control. The two can complement each other, but neither automatically configures the other. Do not tell readers that connecting an email domain gives them a Bluesky handle, or that a Bluesky handle proves ownership of an email inbox.

If the Bluesky message does not arrive
Start with the simplest checks before requesting more messages:
- confirm that the address entered at signup is correct;
- wait briefly, then refresh the Inboxto inbox;
- look for a new message rather than an assumed subject line;
- use Bluesky's visible resend or support route only when the signup flow offers it; and
- do not create repeated accounts just because a message is delayed.
If there is no message after a reasonable wait, the domain may have been rejected, delivery may be delayed, or the account flow may need Bluesky support. Inboxto cannot see Bluesky's delivery decisions and cannot override them. Keep the platform's error text and use its support channel rather than trying to defeat a block.
Recovery and privacy limits
An email address reduces exposure to your primary inbox; it does not replace a password manager, two-factor authentication where Bluesky offers it, or careful account recovery habits. Keep your password unique. Protect access to the inbox. Do not use a disposable address as the only recovery route for financial, medical, government, employment, or primary-identity accounts.

If Bluesky does not accept an address, do not treat a temporary inbox as a workaround. Choose a compliant address you control or contact Bluesky support. Privacy works best when it supports legitimate use and reliable recovery, rather than trying to outsmart a platform's safeguards.
